Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has accused President Akufo-Addo and the judiciary of undermining the Constitution by delaying the passage of the Anti-LGBTQ Bill, which Parliament has already passed and sent for presidential assent.
Bagbin expressed concern over the judiciary accepting cases related to the bill and criticized MPs who frequently turn to the Supreme Court to resolve legislative matters, calling this a threat to Parliament's authority.
He warned that the president’s reluctance to accept the bill, coupled with the judiciary’s involvement, sets a dangerous precedent.
Bagbin urged both branches to respect democratic processes and reconsider their actions.
