Mahama urges Ghanaians to unite against LGBTQ+

John Mahama, leader of Ghana's opposition NDC, has called on Ghanaians to oppose LGBTQ+ practices, emphasizing that religious communities—including Christians, Muslims, and traditionalists—view it as an abomination.

Speaking in Kumasi during his campaign tour, Mahama encouraged citizens to uphold traditional values to safeguard the "next generation" from altered sexual orientations.

Meanwhile, Ghana’s Parliament recently resubmitted the controversial anti-LGBTQ+ bill, awaiting President Akufo-Addo's signature.

The bill, if signed, would criminalize LGBTQ+ identification with up to three years in prison and enforce harsher penalties for promoting related activities. The law remains pending until the Supreme Court rules on its constitutionality.
