Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has urged the Supreme Court to apply the same urgency shown in the recent case of vacant seats to the pending anti-LGBTQI bill, which has been delayed for over a year.
Bagbin expressed concern over what he sees as possible collusion between the Executive and Judiciary to weaken Parliament’s authority. He also refuted claims of a constitutional crisis, affirming Parliament’s active role in governance.
The Supreme Court recently dismissed Bagbin’s attempt to reverse its stay on his declaration of four vacant seats, arguing that parliamentary rulings are non-judicial and outside the Court's authority.
